When, in 1775, Patrick Henry spoke the words "Give me liberty or give me death" he could not have known that a little girl named Mercedes Skegro would be born in the 20th century in communist Croatia or that she would one day heed his words and risk her life for freedom. She made her way to the free world and now pursues a lifelong dream to paint and work with fused glass. Her works are described as at once intimate and vibrant. Women in the U.S. and in Europe delight in wearing her glass jewelry. Her special line of beautiful glass crosses are an inspiration of light to the devout. A show at the Croatian Museum and Cultural Center in Cleveland, Ohio in 2007 was an enormous success and her paintings now hang in homes throughout the U.S. and Europe. Mercedes describes herself as an ordinary person who sees the world through color and light. She hopes you will find joy in her work. Please contact her at: Mercedes@mskegroartwork.com
